NJ – Energenic, LLC, a joint venture between DCO Energy and Marina Energy, is proud to announce that, to date, the Atlantic County Utilities Authority has netted over $2.7 million dollars between savings and revenue through the Landfill Gas to Energy Facility located at the Howard “Fritz” Haneman Environmental Park. This facility is owned, operated and maintained by Energenic.
The facility powers Atlantic County’s Howard “Fritz” Haneman Environmental Park, and produces enough additional electricity to supply 2,414 homes, based on the EPA average for U.S. homes of 10,656 kwhs per year. This project has also contributed to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The ACUA Landfill Gas to Energy project is an integral part of Atlantic County Utilities Authority’s aggressive pursuit of renewable energy solutions.
“The environmental benefits that have resulted from the partnership between ACUA and Energenic cannot be overstated,” said Rick Dovey, ACUA president. “Not only does this project capture methane gas, one of the most destructive greenhouse gases, the energy this gas produces allows the ACUA to operate completely off the electric grid. One hundred percent of the energy used by the ACUA’s solid waste division is derived from this renewable source of energy.
The project was built at no cost to the ACUA and the ACUA receives a lease payment, a discount on electricity as well as a share of the Renewable Energy Credits and all the Greenhouse Gas Credits.
“The ACUA should be proud of its record when it comes to clean energy solutions, and we are thankful to be a partner in these efforts,” said Frank DiCola, president of Energenic. “It feels great to be able to participate in projects that not only improve the environment for future generations, but saves taxpayers and ratepayers significantly as well.”
