Folsom, NJ - Less than a year after being appointed the American Gas Association’s Internal Audit Committee vice-chair, Peter Parillo, director of internal audit for Folsom-based South Jersey Industries, has now been appointed as chairman of that committee.
“Pete’s dynamic personality and extensive internal audit background has let him quickly assume this top role,” said Edward J. Graham, chairman, president and CEO of SJI. “We’re always proud to have a member of our team serve in a leadership capacity in an organization that provides so much value to not just our company but to the entire natural gas industry.”
The role of the committee is to advance a philosophy of internal auditing that supports the objectives of AGA’s corporate management and audit committees, while maintaining an independent and cooperative relationship with other corporate functions, independent public accountants and regulatory agencies. Parillo will now oversee the development and publishing of audit procedures and the results of Committee-sponsored research activities.
Parillo, who joined SJI in 2010, has worked in audit for more than 20 years, most recently as a private consultant and previously as vice president of internal audit for a publically held telecommunication company in New Jersey. He is certified in financial forensics, and as a public accountant, fraud examiner and business manager. He resides in Freehold, NJ with his wife and children.
