The Camden County East Chapter of the NAACP Names SJI’s Will Smith a Visionary Leader for 2024
FOLSOM, NJ, April 29, 2024 – SJI is pleased to announce that the Camden County East Chapter of the NAACP has named Will Smith, vice president of enterprise project management, a recipient of its 2024 Visionary Leader award. The chapter honored Smith and other award recipients at its 2024 Visionary Awards gala on April 27.
The Camden County East NAACP Visionary Leader award is presented annually to a person who acts on their vision to help others reach their highest potential and demonstrates remarkable leadership skills.
“On behalf of the Camden County East Chapter of the NAACP, I am honored to present our 2024 Visionary Leader award to Will,” said Lloyd Henderson, president, Camden County East Chapter of the NAACP. “Will’s accomplishments in both his personal and professional life are inspiring and have made an indelible impact on the community.”
Smith oversees the prioritization of projects and programs across the SJI enterprise to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals and resources. In addition, he oversees the execution of SJI's strategic and transformational initiatives and manages the due diligence process for all Merger and Acquisition (M&A) activities.
“I’m deeply honored to receive this prestigious award from an organization that has made such meaningful contributions to our communities and that remains committed to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said Smith. “I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Camden County East Chapter of the NAACP, my family, community and colleagues, for all their support.”
Smith also serves as a board member of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and is Executive Sponsor of the South Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, SJI’s Employee Resource Group, where he has helped raise more than $45,000 in scholarship funding for students of color pursuing college degrees in STEM-related fields.
Other notable honorees of the award have included Temple University Basketball Head Coach John Cheney, Reggie White of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia News Anchor Beverly Williams.
